Job summary

Persona is seeking a research-focused engineer to advance identity verification and fraud prevention. Team up with ML and engineering to turn research into production models and publish findings in top venues.

You will design focused experiments to test new ideas and contribute to distinguishing real signals from noise in verification data. You will bring deep expertise in computer vision, statistics, or identity security, with a PhD preferred or an MS with a strong publication record.

Qualifications

• PhD in Computer Science, ML, Mathematics or Statistics is strongly preferred or an MS with exceptional research record.
• Clear publication history in relevant conferences or journals with substantive contributions.
• Independently lead research, design rigorous experiments, and translate findings into actionable steps.
• Ability to explain experimental design, findings and limitations to technical and non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

• Lead research on identity verification and fraud prevention via focused experiments.
• Develop methods to detect manipulated documents, AI-generated images, and emerging fraud attacks.
• Evaluate model performance across diverse populations.
• Uncover verification data patterns that reveal fraud signals.
