Posting Summary
Rutgers University-Newark (RU-N), an urban public research university and anchor institution, located in Newark, New Jersey, a city of promise is seeking a Research Project Coordinator II. Reporting to the Principal Investigator, this Research Project Coordinator II manages and/or coordinates day-to-day operations for the Child Study Center.
This position is responsible for and not limited to the following.
- Manages and/or coordinates the Institutional Review Board ( IRB ), laboratory data, grant budgets, administrative operations, and the oversight of undergraduate research assistants.
- Recruits participants.
- Creates, develops, expands, and maintains relationships with local community organizations.
- Contributes to the laboratory research efforts, including preparing manuscripts and gathering and assembling reference information and relevant literature.
- Primary point-of-contact and liaison between Child Study Center and study participants.
- Develops outreach materials, coordinates researchers’ testing schedules, schedules and interviews test participants, contacts prospective participants, and maintains a database of qualified participants.

Work Arrangement
Consistent with the current application of Rutgers Policy 60.3.22, this position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement. The flexible work arrangements outlined in Rutgers Policy 60.3.22 are part of a pilot program that is effective September 1, 2022 through August 31, 2024. Therefore, there is no guarantee that this flexible work arrangement will continue beyond that date. Flexible work arrangements are not permanent, are subject to change or cancellation and contingent on the employee receiving approval in the FlexWork@RU Application System. - Requires a bachelor’s degree in a scientific field and a minimum of two years of research Experience, or an equivalent combination of education and/or increasing functional responsibility in a research or laboratory management role.

- Position regularly uses MS Office Suite, Cornerstone, Box, RedCap, RAPSS , ECRT , and knows or will learn any and all systems RU uses for IRB , laboratory management, data management and storage, grant submission, recruitment, facilities, space scheduling and management, event management, website and social media maintenance and updates, and know or will learn all equipment, software, and specialized materials needed to support the effective and efficient performance of this position.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Fast-paced, community-focused, team environment.
- Must be able to work occasional evenings and weekends.
- Requires travel to event, partner, and community sites.
