The Graduate Center of the City University of New York (CUNY) seeks a Lab Technician to support faculty and students in operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and procurement of specialized hardware and software used in the SLHS research laboratories.

Reporting to the Executive Officer, this individual also provides support services for lectures, laboratory, or other instructional activities as needed to help maintain the program's technological infrastructure that supports the program's

Qualifikationen

• Bachelor’s Degree and four years’ related experience required.
• Technical expertise in computer hardware and programming.
• Proficiency in maintaining and troubleshooting computer hardware, laboratory equipment, and software.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and Adobe Acrobat.
• Experience with sound editing and data analysis is preferred.
• Familiarity with experimental design and data analysis tools is a plus.

Aufgaben

• Work directly with faculty, staff, and students to provide technical support for laboratory equipment, hardware, software, and computing resources.
• Maintain, troubleshoot, calibrate, and ensure the safe operation of laboratory equipment, instruments, computers, research systems, tools, and other electronic and mechanical devices.
• Manage laboratory and program inventory, including checking tools and equipment in and out, monitoring stock levels, ordering supplies and equipment, processing purchases, and maintaining inventory, procurement, and service records.
• Provide instructional support for laboratory courses and research activities by assisting with demonstrations and training students, staff, and other users in laboratory procedures, equipment operation, software use, and safety practices.
• Aid students and faculty in experimental design and analysis using current programming tools, such as Python and MATLAB.
• Support research operations, in configuring, testing, maintaining, and troubleshooting research hardware and software;
• Responsible for maintenance of technical documentation, user manuals, standard operating procedures, and maintenance records for laboratory hardware and software.
• Assist with research administration, including, compliance documentation, and navigating institutional electronic systems (e.g., Workday, Cayuse).
• Evaluate, learn, and implement emerging technologies and software to improve laboratory operations and support instructional and research objectives.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
