Job summary

The Graduate Center, CUNY invites applications for a Speech-Language-Hearing Sciences Lab Technician (Research Programs Specialist) in the SLHS program. The role supports faculty and students in operation, maintenance, and procurement of specialized hardware and software for research laboratories.

Reporting to the Executive Officer, you will aid in experimental design, data analysis, and maintaining technical documentation while supporting instructional activities and ensuring safe lab practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree and four years' related experience required.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat.
• Proficiency with PsychoPy, E-Prime, or similar experiment control platforms.
• Experience with sound editing, signal processing, or neurophysiological data acquisition and analysis.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support for laboratory equipment and computing resources.
• Maintain, calibrate, and ensure the safe operation of laboratory equipment, instruments, computers, research systems, tools, and other devices.
• Manage laboratory inventory, stock levels, ordering supplies and equipment, processing purchases, and maintaining records.
• Provide instructional support for laboratory courses and research activities by training students, staff, and other users.
• Aid students and faculty in experimental design and analysis using Python and MATLAB.
