Purpose
The purpose of this position is to provide programmatic and administrative support for faculty research and grant‑funded initiatives within the School of Civic Leadership. The position coordinates research‑related programs, partnerships, events, and grant activities. The research program coordinator supports faculty principal investigators in implementing awarded projects.
Responsibilities
Research Programming & Events
- Coordinate faculty‑led and grant‑funded research programs and initiatives, including civic education programs, professional development, conferences, seminars, workshops, and other scholarly activities.
- Support faculty principal investigators (PIs) in the administration of coordinating program timelines, participants, deliverables, and related activities.
- Support additional School research initiatives and special projects involving collaboration with faculty, academic units, research partners, and external organizations.
- Coordinate research‑related conferences, workshops, seminars, speaker visits, and other grant‑supported programming from planning through execution.
- Manage program logistics, including schedules, registration, participant communications, facilities, technology, catering, materials, and on‑site coordination in collaboration with faculty and appropriate SCL staff.
- Coordinate visiting scholars, speakers, and program participants, including invitations, itineraries, travel arrangements, schedules, and campus visits; serve as a primary point of contact throughout their participation.
Grant & Financial Coordination
- Coordinate program‑related purchasing and financial transactions, including travel, supplies and materials, vendor payments, reimbursements, stipends, and honoraria, in partnership with SCL Business Affairs.
- Communicate and stay abreast of applicable requirements as it relates to expenditures and programming expenses.
- Identify administrative, financial, or logistical issues affecting grant‑supported activities and coordinate with appropriate staff and faculty to resolve them.
Research Partnerships & Reporting
- Serve as an administrative liaison among faculty PIs, program participants, external partners, and university offices to facilitate program activities.
- Maintain program records and compile participation data, outcomes, and summaries to support grant reporting and evaluation of research initiatives.
- Collaborate with SCL Communications team to ensure appropriate events receive recognition.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related field.
- 2 years of experience coordinating events, programs, or projects involving multiple stakeholders.
- Experience supporting logistics for in‑person and virtual events, including scheduling, registration, travel coordination, and on‑site support.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple events and deadlines simultaneously.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing summaries, reports, and event documentation.
- Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
