Job summary

About the Job

Position Summary: The Researcher will use a multi‑pronged approach, including biochemistry, CRISPR‑based genetic editing, gene expression analysis, proteomics, and imaging. The Researcher’s role will include supporting the day‑to‑day lab operation, working with graduate students and post‑docs, and carrying out research projects under supervision.

Work Schedule: In‑person, 5 days a week, and 40 hour a week.

Duties/Responsibilities

Research (80%):

  • Conduct research in a molecular and cellular neuroscience/stem cell lab for disease modeling using patient‑derived induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSC) and novel mouse model.
  • Plan and conduct experiments.
  • Perform data analysis and generate figures.
  • Work with rodents.
  • Work with tissue culture.

Lab management (20%):

  • Order supplies for the lab.
  • Write and maintain biosafety and animal/human subject protocols.
  • Assist in overseeing the lab operation.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Holds a BS or BA degree plus two years of relevant experience, or a combination of education and experience equal to at least 6 years.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with cell culture.
  • Experience working with rodent models.
About the Department

Our research goals are to further our understanding of the pathophysiology of neurodegenerative diseases and to identify novel pathways and targets for the development of therapy. In particular, we are interested in understanding the mechanisms of genetic risk variants and protective variants. We use induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) from patients with Alzheimer’s Disease and other types of neurodegenerative diseases as our model system. Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $22.12/hr - $27/hr ; depending on education/qualifications/experience
