Job summary

Duke Lemur Center at Duke University seeks a Research Manager to lead research operations, coordinate projects, and ensure compliance with animal welfare standards. Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Zoology, Biological Anthropology, Animal Science, or related field.
  • Minimum three years’ experience supporting research programs involving captive animals, preferably nonhuman primates.
  • Experience coordinating research projects, regulatory requirements, and operational activities.
  • Previous supervisory or project management experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Research Operations: coordinate project planning, scheduling, logistics, and implementation.
  • Drive Research Collaboration: facilitate cross-team collaboration among researchers, husbandry, veterinary, and admin staff.
  • Champion Compliance and Animal Welfare: ensure compliance with policies, IACUC, USDA, and animal care standards.
  • Manage Biological Sample and Biobank Programs: oversee specimen acquisition, cataloging, storage, and distribution.
  • Lead and Develop Teams: supervise technicians, onboarding, training, and performance management.
  • Advance Research Program Growth: monitor metrics, maintain databases, assist with grants and budgets.
