Job Description

As a research officer, you are responsible for designing and launching support for an evidence-based approach internally at FBA in 2022 (i.e. an approach based on research and long-term proven experience). In concrete terms, this means leading the work to develop and introduce digital courses and other support material. By the end of 2022, you are expected to have developed and launched this support internally at the agency.

You are independent in your work but work closely with colleagues in the research program, where you are located, as well as with colleagues in the program for coordination and method. In your role, you also have many personal contacts at the agency as a whole, to ensure that the support that is developed is relevant. Furthermore, the work involves personal contacts externally to learn from how similar organisations in Sweden and internationally work to promote an evidence-based approach.

To the extent that it fits in your portfolio, you will also contribute to the research program’s regular work, such as activities that promote research, make research results available and promote dialogue between researchers and practitioners in the field of peace, security and development.

The position is a full-time employment until 2022-12-31.

Folke Bernadotte Academy (FBA) is the Swedish government agency for peace, security and development.

As part of Sweden’s international development aid, FBA promotes peace in conflict-affected countries. They offer training and advice and conduct research in order to strengthen peacebuilding and statebuilding, and grant funds to civil society organizations working with peace and security. Moreover, FBA deploys civilian personnel to peace operations and election observation missions primarily led by the UN, EU and OSCE. The agency is named after Count Folke Bernadotte, UN’s first peace mediator.
