Assist with research activities for faculty investigators who are studying the role of microbial communities in host health. With guidance from senior faculty and research personnel, the research laboratory technician will handle laboratory tasks related to research on Clostridiodes difficile and other healthcare-associated bacterial infections. The technician will work collaboratively with other team members as well as independently to fulfill the goals of the project.
Bachelor's degree in microbiology, biology, biochemistry, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and 1-3 years of experience is required. Demonstrated multi-tasking skills and ability to organize workload are essential. Strong interpersonal and both written and oral communication skills are critical. Past experience with molecular biology, microbiology, and rodent animal handling are required.
Experience with computerized records and databases desirable. Candidate should possess a willingness to learn and develop additional skills. Previous experience with mammalian tissue culture and anaerobic microbiology is a plus.
