Job Summary

Responsible for maintaining laboratory equipment, organizing and preparing samples, conducting experiments, and recording and analyzing data.

Essential Functions
  • Perform laboratory experiments following established protocols and procedures.
  • Prepare and handle samples, reagents, and solutions, ensuring accuracy and adherence to safety guidelines.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and instruments, conducting routine calibration and troubleshooting as needed.
  • Record experimental data accurately and maintain organized records of procedures, protocols, and results.
  • Compile and analyze data using appropriate statistical and analytical methods.
  • Assist in data interpretation and presentation, contributing to research findings and reports.
Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent required; Bachelor's Degree in Biology preferred.

Experience: Prior laboratory experience, either through academic coursework, internships, or employment. 1-2 years preferred.

Position Summary: The Shalhout Lab seeks a motivated research technician and clinical research coordinator to support critical research activities, including patient interaction, data collection, statistical analysis, and regulatory compliance. The role involves coordination of tumor tissue retrieval and contributes to impactful research in a collaborative environment.

Essential Duties
  • Data collection and abstraction on complex EHR data.
  • Assist with patient biospecimen, blood, and tissue collection.
  • Obtain and document informed consent per IRB protocols.
  • Escort and assist patients during clinical visits.
  • Manage clinical research data using electronic systems (e.g., REDCap).
  • Generate basic data visualizations and summaries.
  • Maintain regulatory documentation in compliance with IRB.
  • Organize and analyze data using scientific techniques.
  • Report project status and assess data validity.
  • Handle hazardous substances safely after training.
  • Plan research procedures and coordinate schedules.
  • Assist in training team members and demonstrate laboratory techniques.
  • Conduct literature searches and review journals.
  • Perform clerical research duties as needed.
  • Attend meetings and perform other lab functions as required.
Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in biology, public health, biochemistry, chemistry, or related field. Excellent organization, communication, and interpersonal skills. HIPAA compliance experience preferred.

Working Conditions

Potential exposure to blood-borne pathogens; tasks may involve contact with blood, body fluids, or tissues.

Physical Requirements

Vision at 20 inches or less, depth perception, lifting up to 50 pounds.
