Job summary

UT Health Sciences in Memphis, TN seeks a Temporary HVAC Technician to support research, labs and campus operations by designing, fabricating, and maintaining specialized equipment and building systems.

This role requires six years of HVAC experience or equivalent, EPA Universal certification, OSHA 10, and a valid driver’s license; starting pay is $26.00 per hour, with potential after-hours work and travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of HVAC, refrigeration, pumps, pneumatics, hydraulics.
• Experience fabricating and repairing custom mechanical components.
• Experience with diagnosing and repairing complex systems.
• Ability to work independently and in teams

Responsibilities

• Design, assemble, and maintain custom scientific/lab equipment and control systems.
• Fabricate and repair mechanical/electronic parts not readily available.
• Install, inspect, troubleshoot, and repair HVAC/refrigeration systems and large machinery.
• Conduct routine maintenance to ensure reliable operations of HVAC and fluid systems.
• Evaluate performance, identify deficiencies, and implement corrective actions.
• Provide training to student workers or junior staff
• Develop preventive maintenance programs to extend equipment lifespan
• Ensure compliance with safety protocols, codes, and environmental standards
• Perform inspections and generate reports on system conditions and risks
