Job summary

Georgia Tech Research Institute's Research IT Department is seeking a motivated student intern for Spring 2027 to join the IT Operations Team and support the ELSYS lab. Interns will work on helpdesk tickets and gain hands-on experience with virtualization, DevOps, Linux, scripting, and server infrastructure.

The role emphasizes collaboration, learning, and contributing to ongoing research projects while developing IT operations skills.

Qualifications

Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Information Systems, Information Systems, Information Security Assurance, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Computer Science or a similar field of study.
3.0 or higher cumulative GPA
Must be registered for Full-time Internship Credit
Be interested in learning IT operations (including system administration/deployment, networking, software troubleshooting, and security)
Basic familiarity with Microsoft Windows operating systems, various types of computer hardware, and networking
A passion for technology, and a desire to grow as an IT professional

Responsibilities

Manage the helpdesk ticket systems in a collaborative IT environment.
Provide IT support to ELSYS employees and researchers.
Assist researchers and engineers with various projects.
Expose yourself to virtualization, DevOps, Linux, scripting, and server infrastructure.
