Job summary

The University of Maine's Office of Research Compliance, Research Information Security unit, seeks a Cybersecurity and Compliance Specialist to administer security for systems handling CUI, FCI, and sensitive research data. You will monitor configurations, patch vulnerabilities, assess risks, and track remediation with defined timelines.

You will help develop security policies, deploy compliant tools, and support researchers with training and documentation.

Qualifications

• U.S. person status is required under export control laws.
• Bachelor's degree or four years of related post-high school education and/or an equivalent combination.
• One or more years of full-time IT technical and troubleshooting experience.
• Strong working knowledge of PC and/or Macintosh hardware, software, and operating systems.
• Ability to obtain Information Security Certification within three years of hire (e.g., CISSP, CC, Security+).

Responsibilities

• Monitor systems for configuration and patching vulnerabilities.
• Evaluate risks and track remediation through corrective action plans.
• Develop security policies and procedures to align with federal regulations.
• Coordinate deployment of compliant cybersecurity tools and provide user training.
