Job summary

The University of Maine’s Office of Research Compliance seeks a Research Data Security Analyst within the Research Information Security unit to lead security efforts across UMaine. You will provide programmatic leadership and technical expertise to safeguard research data and enable secure computing activities in academic units, centers and institutes.

Qualifications

• U.S. person status is required to comply with export controls and related laws.
• Bachelor's degree in CS/Info Science/Cybersecurity/Computer Engineering or a related field.
• At least three years of relevant work experience.
• Ability to obtain Information Security Certification (CISSP, CISA, CISM or GIAC) within three years of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership to secure research data and manage the lifecycle of the data security program.
• Oversee development, implementation, and continuous improvement of research-specific data security procedures and infrastructure.
• Act as a liaison between research units and IT to advance security initiatives.
• Evaluate data security requirements in research contracts and technology reviews and recommend compliant solutions.
• Manage review and compliance tracking of Data Use Agreements (DUAs) and Data Security Plans.

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Science, Cybersecurity, or Computer Engineering
