Job summary

Caltech is seeking a Grants Administrator to oversee application and fiscal management of federal and private research grants for Chemistry and Chemical Engineering faculty and groups. You will develop budgets, projections, and ensure compliance with all budgetary regulations and agency policies.

Key duties include coordinating deadlines, preparing reports, and advising investigators on funding options and corrective actions, with entry to Oracle and related systems.

Qualifications

• The candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• At least 3+ years of work-related experience in grant management.
• Strong analytical, written and oral communication skills; ability to exercise good judgment and diplomacy.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the application and fiscal management of federal and private research grants for Chemistry and Chemical Engineering faculty and groups.
• Develop budgets, financial projections, and ensure spending complies with budget and regulations.
• Prepare financial projections and advise on overspending risks and corrective actions.
• Prepare and process account set-up requests and ensure awards are entered in Oracle and related systems.
• Coordinate deadlines, agency reports, and grant-related requests with principal investigators.
• Produce periodic reports on status of research and discretionary accounts; monitor balances and expiration dates.
