Job summary

Institute for Medical Research (IMR) seeks an Exercise Physiologist to support clinical research at the Durham VA Health Care System. You will assess participants, tailor exercise prescriptions, and monitor responses to ensure safety and protocol adherence.

The role requires advanced education in exercise physiology and ACSM credentials, with opportunities to supervise sessions and collaborate across investigators and staff.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Exercise Physiology or Exercise Science required.
• ACSM certification as Exercise Physiologist or Clinical Exercise Physiologist required (Level I) or Clinical Exercise Physiologist (Level II).
• Bachelor's with ACSM RCEP credential may be accepted in lieu of master's.

Responsibilities

• Conduct exercise, fitness, and functional assessments for research participants.
• Develop individualized exercise prescriptions based on health history and results.
• Monitor safety and document physiological responses during exercise sessions.
• Provide instruction and supervision during exercise sessions.
• Maintain accurate documentation of assessments, prescriptions, and progress.
• Ensure compliance with study protocols and safety policies.
