Job summary

Institute for Medical Research (IMR) seeks an Exercise Physiologist to support clinical research and exercise-related activities for the Durham VA Health Care System. You will assess, prescribe, monitor, and educate participants across diverse health histories and goals.

The role requires coordinating with investigators and clinical staff to ensure safety and protocol compliance, maintaining documentation, and contributing to project meetings. Equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Exercise Physiology or related field required.
• ACSM certification as Exercise Physiologist/Clinical Exercise Physiologist required for Level I.
• ACS M Clin. Exercise Physiologist required for Level II.

Responsibilities

• Conduct exercise and fitness assessments for research participants.
• Develop individualized exercise prescriptions based on health history and goals.
• Monitor participants for safety before, during, and after exercise.
• Document physiological responses (HR, BP, SpO2, glucose) as required.
• Provide instruction and supervision during exercise sessions.
• Maintain accurate documentation of assessments, prescriptions, sessions, and progress.
