Base pay range

$56.25/yr - $173,000.00/yr

Meta is seeking a Research Engineer to join the Fundamental AI Research (FAIR) team, one of the top industrial AI research organizations in the world. Come join FAIR's efforts to build world models, learn to understand and make predictions about the physical world, especially from video, and develop efficient algorithms for world model-based planning and control.

Our team is driving an ambitious agenda to train and use world models for embodied and wearable agents. We focus on topics including self-supervised learning from video (e.g., joint-embedding predictive architectures/JEPAs), predictive models, model-based reinforcement learning, and model-predictive control. We innovate across the stack, from data curation to training large-scale models and designing benchmarks. We seek research engineers passionate about building efficient, scalable, and robust models of the world that will shape the next paradigm of AI models.

Responsibilities:
  1. Leading, collaborating, and executing research to advance AI
  2. Designing, implementing, evaluating, and reporting experimental results
  3. Creating large datasets and evaluation benchmarks
  4. Collaborating with scientists and engineers in a cross-functional team
  5. Building optimized software tools and infrastructure to accelerate research
  6. Publishing impactful research to influence the community
  7. Open sourcing high-quality code and ensuring reproducibility
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Currently has, or is obtaining, a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, with degree completed before joining Meta
  • Master's degree in a relevant field and 2+ years of industry experience
  • Research background in machine learning, AI, statistics, applied mathematics, or related areas
  • At least 2 years of experience coding in software and conducting experiments
  • Proficiency in Python and PyTorch
  • Research experience in areas such as computer vision, multimodal perception, robotics, self-supervised learning, reinforcement learning, or control
Preferred Qualifications:
  • PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, or related fields
  • Published research in AI conferences like ICML, ICLR, NeurIPS, CVPR, ICCV, CoRL, etc.
  • Experience with C++, CUDA, and model optimization
  • Experience developing scalable distributed systems and training pipelines
