Description
The University of Alabama (UAB) Engineering and Technology Development (EITD) department https://www.uab.edu/engineering/eitd/ is seeking a project engineer to join our team. To develop viable mechanical or electrical systems and component designs based on project requirements and specifications for the School of Engineering. To produce and supervise the associated engineering drawings and schematics for use in the fabrication and assembly of complex engineering hardware and devices. To review and check engineering drawings produced by others for adherence to technical specifications and requirements. To work with CAE (Computer-Aided Engineering) Mechanical or electrical design software. To demonstrate design experience with high-reliability instruments and to work closely with engineers of other disciplines to develop systems.
This position will provide the opportunity to work as part of a multi-discipline engineering team that specializes in the development of cold stowage systems for use in microgravity and space exploration. The systems developed by our team provide researchers with a means of preserving experiments in a thermally controlled environment onboard the International Space Station, as well as onboard launch and landing vehicles.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering and six (6) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.U.S. Citizenship is required.
