Job Summary

The National Electric Energy Testing, Research and Application Center (NEETRAC) is a not‑for‑profit testing and research center serving the North American electric utility industry. NEETRAC seeks a flexible, motivated, and skilled electrical engineer to serve as a principal investigator and understudy in its medium and high‑voltage testing laboratories. The engineer will lead increasingly large and complex projects funded by NEETRAC members.

Location

NEETRAC Laboratory Campus, Forest Park, GA.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Participate in multiple projects in parallel.
  • Display a thorough understanding of electrical principles.
  • Partner with NEETRAC customers to develop project proposals from their technical needs.
  • Conduct robust and practical experimental programs.
  • Undertake laboratory and field testing, in a hands‑on role, individually and as part of a team.
  • Recommend project ideas or improvements to NEETRAC members.
  • Curate and analyze utility performance and measurement data.
  • Travel for field work and technical interactions with members as required.
Required Qualifications

Open rank announcement. Final job offer will depend on qualifications in alignment with Research Faculty ranks as outlined in the Georgia Tech Faculty Handbook.

Research Engineer I: A Bachelor's degree.

Research Engineer II:

  • A Master's degree and 3 years of relevant full‑time experience after completion of that degree, or
  • A Master's degree and 5 years of relevant full‑time experience after completion of a Bachelor's degree, or
  • A Doctoral degree.

Senior Research Engineer:

  • A Master's degree in a related area and 7 years of relevant full‑time experience after completion of that degree, or
  • A Master's degree in a related area and 9 years of relevant full‑time experience after completion of a Bachelor's degree, or
  • A Doctoral degree in a related area and 4 years of relevant full‑time experience after completion of a Bachelor's degree.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Solid understanding of engineering principles.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects in parallel.
  • Good self‑prioritization skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Solid writing and presentation skills.
