Job summary

Sonova USA Inc. in Valencia, CA is hiring an Engineer, Research to help develop software and firmware for cochlear implant systems. You will work in a hybrid environment with software developers, DSP engineers, scientists, and clinicians to evaluate emerging technologies.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Computer or Electrical Engineering, embedded software experience, and strong C/C++/C# skills. You will participate in verification, documentation, and regulatory activities while advancing

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
• Experience in embedded software development for consumer electronics.
• Strong proficiency in C and C#/.NET.
• Experience with AI-assisted development tools and code-generation/automation tools.
• Ability to work in a collaborative, cross-functional team.

Responsibilities

• Support firmware and software development for cochlear implant systems and other implantable hearing solutions.
• Contribute to codebases in C and C#/.NET under guidance of senior engineers.
• Assist with software verification activities, including unit testing, automated testing, and system testing.
• Troubleshoot software and system issues and participate in root-cause analysis.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams using version control and software-development best practices.
• Prepare and maintain software requirements, design documentation, engineering records, and test reports.
• Support research projects through prototyping, data collection, analysis, and evaluation of emerging technologies.
• Learn and apply applicable medical-device quality-system and regulatory requirements.
