Bosch USA in Watertown, MA, is seeking a Research Engineer to perform applied computational materials science at the atomistic level and contribute to next‑generation Bosch products. Qualifications

  • PhD in materials science, chemistry, physics, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, biophysics or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in atomistic simulation and computational materials science with hands-on exposure to DFT, MD, Monte Carlo, phase-field, multiscale modeling, and HPC environments.
  • Proficiency in programming and the Python ecosystem or equivalent computational tools.
  • Documented experience applying AI/ML techniques to scientific problems (active learning, Bayesian optimization, RL, automated workflows, or autonomous lab systems).
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct independent research, formulate questions, analyze data, and develop working prototypes.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct applied research in materials science using atomistic simulations.
  • Apply conventional and AI-based methods to derive insights on materials behavior and optimization.
  • Identify and collaborate with external partners.
  • Communicate results via internal reports, publications, and presentations.
  • Foster an interdisciplinary research environment across materials science, physics, chemistry, AI, and software.
  • Create AI-based frameworks enabling Bosch engineers to apply atomistic simulation effectively.
