Job summary

Bosch USA seeks a Research Engineer to perform applied research in computational materials science at the atomistic level and aid the development of next-generation Bosch products. You will use classical simulations and AI tools to move from concept to quantitative models aligned with engineering cycles.

Qualifications

  • PhD in materials science, chemistry, physics, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, biophysics or closely related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in atomistic simulation and computational materials science with DFT, MD, Monte Carlo, phase-field, multiscale modeling, and HPC.
  • Proficiency in programming and the scientific Python ecosystem.
  • Documented experience applying AI/ML techniques to scientific problems (active learning, Bayesian optimization, RL, automated workflows, autonomous lab systems).
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct independent research and develop working prototypes.
  • Evidence of research impact through publications, patents, or open-source contributions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication across technical disciplines.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct applied research in materials science at the atomistic level.
  • Apply conventional atomistic methods and emerging AI tools to derive insights on materials behavior and optimization.
  • Identify, connect, and collaborate with external partners.
  • Communicate results through internal presentations, reports, publications, and IP disclosures.
  • Contribute to a collaborative, interdisciplinary research environment.
  • Create an AI-based framework enabling Bosch engineers to apply atomistic simulation to real-world materials.
