Job description

Our mission is to create outstanding research and innovative technologies for networking, telecommunication, and software systems. Our team research focuses on the operational challenges in deploying, maintaining and troubleshooting networks and software systems. We create data-driven solutions and implement software systems to provide autonomy to network operation in such a way that scales with future workload demands.

  • Identify new and ambitious research challenges, define research projects to address these challenges, and carry out ground-breaking research in the areas of software systems and/or software engineering with focus on the aforementioned research agendas for creating both theoretical innovations and novel practical implementations.

  • Propose new innovations and generate patents to help continue Nokia's leadership in intellectual property in software services and technologies.

  • Implement and validate new innovations and accelerate their adoption through Nokia business groups, incubation, or external spin-offs.

  • Publish research in major conferences and journals worldwide.

  • Keep an active and visible role in the research community through conference committees and reviewing panels.

  • Create and maintain strong collaborative associations with university-based researchers.

You have:

  • Ph.D. degree (or equivalent experience) in computer science, electrical engineering with a strong focus on software systems or software engineering research.

  • Deep understanding of distributed systems, AI/ML systems, Web3 technologies, and distributed software systems.

  • A proven track record in research, with publications in prestigious IEEE/ACM conferences and/or journals

  • Strong written and spoken English communication skills. You have delivered talks at relevant international workshops, conferences, or other events.

  • Demonstrable programming skills. Pointers to research prototypes you have built or open-source libraries you contributed to are much appreciated.

  • Ability to conduct independent research with minimal day-to-day guidance while also contributing to team-oriented projects.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to successfully work in collaborative projects.

It would be nice if you also had:

  • Proven experience in designing and realizing large and complex software systems.

  • Familiarity with implementing decentralized systems.

  • PostDoc experience is a plus.
