  • Research, Economic Development and Engagement (REDE), led by the Senior Vice Provost for Research and Innovation, provides strategic leadership for East Carolina University’s research, innovation, economic development, and community engagement enterprise. REDE advances discovery, workforce development, and societal impact through research administration and development, industry engagement, technology transfer and commercialization, economic development initiatives, community‑engaged partnerships, continuing education, and collaborations with federal agencies and national security partners. REDE also oversees research integrity, compliance, and responsible research practices.
    • The Office of Research Development strengthens ECU's research competitiveness by helping faculty and research teams secure external funding, build strategic collaborations, and pursue large-scale interdisciplinary initiatives. The office facilitates proposal development, research planning, team formation, limited submission programs, undergraduate research opportunities, and postdoctoral scholar initiatives to expand research capacity and impact.
Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit

Academic Affairs, led by the Provost and Senior Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, comprises the university's colleges, schools and libraries, along with other academic support and administrative units. Academic Affairs works collaboratively to strengthen ECU's culture of academic excellence in line with our mission to be a national model for student success, public service and regional transformation.

Primary Purpose of Position

The Research Development Program Coordinator provides high-level coordination, data analyses, and lifecycle support for research development activities across the institution. Reporting to the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Research Strategy, this role tracks faculty progression through the grant development pipeline, supports strategic engagement initiatives, and ensures operational alignment across ORD programs, events, and systems. Specific duties will include program and project management; assessment, analysis, and continuous improvement; and research communications and systems coordinator.

Minimum Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

Bachelor's degree and one year of experience related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
  • Experience in program coordination, faculty support, or research administration.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills with attention to detail.
  • Experience supporting research development, faculty advancement, or grant lifecycle programming.
  • Familiarity with research tools such as grant funding databases, power BI.
  • Experience with CRM systems, event tracking, and data reporting.
  • Demonstrate project management and workflow coordination
  • Adept in relationship-building and stakeholder engagement
  • Experience in data tracking and analytical thinking
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
