Kelly Science & Clinical is hiring a Research & Development Laboratory Technician for a 12 month contract position in Emeryville, CA. You will support product development for both brands and work on ready-to-mix formulations in a day shift, Mon-Fri.

The role requires attention to detail, a lab background, and the ability to work independently while collaborating with a diverse team. Pay rate is $31-32/hour DOE with comprehensive benefits offered by Kelly.

Qualifications

  • BS in Food Chemistry, Food Science, Food Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or similar disciplines.
  • 1+ years of experience in the Food industry.

Responsibilities

  • Execute workflows and testing bench-top and pilot line activities to support multiple product development projects.
  • Order, weigh, produce, evaluate, optimize, packaging, and labeling prototype samples.
  • Ensure conformance to Lab Safety Plan, Food Safety Plan, and all EHS requirements.
  • Maintain inventory of hazardous materials, ensuring proper labeling and documentation (SDS or COA).
  • Manage storage and shipment of shelf-life samples and ingredients.
  • Set up, calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot lab/pilot line equipment.
  • Keep accurate and organized records: ingredient/sample logs, inventory, processing notes, cleaning, shipping, and lab notebooks.
  • Support R&D team members with equipment operation and product development activities as needed.

Overview

This client is an industry-leading nutrition company focused on changing live with good energy **. ** In this role you’ll be supporting product development for both brands and will work on ready-to-mix (RTM) formulations.

Schedule: Mon-Fri Day shift

What’s a typical day as a R&D Lab Tech? You’ll be:

  • Executing workflows and testing bench top and pilot line activities to support multiple product development projects.

  • Display excellent technical recordkeeping and compliance with food safety practices.

  • Communicate effectively with team members and adapt to a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Qualifications:

  • BS in Food Chemistry, Food Science, Food Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or similar disciplines AND 1 + years of experience in the Food industry.

  • Strong technical knowledge to solve complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement suitable solutions. Possess curiosity, creativity, and alternative thinking to develop new innovative solutions.
