Overview

Join to apply for the Research & Development Engineer role at ams OSRAM.

Responsibilities

• Design and Development: Create and develop automotive lighting components and assemblies, including headlights, taillights, interior lighting, and fixtures.
• Design verification: Conduct feasibility studies to ensure designs meet functional requirements.
• Thermal and Structural Analysis: Perform Finite Element Analysis (FEA) for thermal management and structural integrity.
• Modeling and Drawings: Utilize CAD software for freeform surface modeling and create detailed 2D drawings with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Tooling and Fixture Design: Oversee tooling kick-off, data exchange, and design of gauges and fixtures.
• Project Management: Manage program timelines and ensure projects are completed on schedule. Work closely with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers, designers, and manufacturing teams.
• Manufacturing support: Support production teams on an as-needed basis to increase material efficiency and prevent quality issues.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Material Science or a relevant field
• 3+ Years of experience in similar positions preferred
• Strong knowledge of product development processes and prototyping
• Familiarity with testing equipment, instrumentation, or lab procedures
• CAD Software: Experience with computer-aided design (CAD) tools for creating detailed product drawings
• Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint with strong presentation skills
• Comfortable working with cross-functional teams (manufacturing, quality, marketing, etc.)
