Job summary

Harvard Kennedy School seeks a Research and Data Specialist to deliver in-depth consultations, data analysis, and training for faculty, students, and fellows. You will bridge reference services with data-driven instruction and help researchers design studies and use data effectively.

Based in Cambridge, MA, this full-time, one-year term appointment supports data management, licensing, and course-related data work across Library and Research Services to enhance scholarly outcomes.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in library and information science, social science, or a related field.
• Minimum 2 years of professional experience in research data services, research consulting, or a closely related role.

Responsibilities

• Delivers individualized, in-depth research and data consultations to faculty, students, and fellows, focusing on reference research, research design, methods, and data analysis.
• Designs, develops, and delivers training and workshops to build research and data skills; updates curricula and online training resources.
• Administers student licenses for tools used in courses (e.g. ChatGPT Edu and Claude).
• Manages user access to Harvard-licensed data, software, and other research resources.
• Supports data management processes related to coursework, including data management plans for capstone projects.
