Job summary

Cleveland Clinic Health System is seeking a Research Data Scientist III - DDI at its Main Campus in Cleveland. The role applies advanced statistics, ML, and AI to deliver analytics that advance trauma research, integrating multi-source data to improve accessibility and analysis.

You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, mentor staff, and present findings to the PI and research community while guiding AI-focused projects within the DDI and Digestive Disease Institute.

Qualifications

• MS or PhD in computer science/statistics/software engineering/bioinformatics or related field and three years of related experience, working with statistical modeling, machine learning or complex data analysis
• OR Bachelor's degree and six years of related experience
• OR Master's degree in related field and one year of related experience, working with statistical modeling, machine learning or complex data analysis
• OR PhD in related field
• Highly proficient with programming languages such as SAS, SQL, SPSS, R, Python, MATLAB or similar
• Excellent communication and presentation skills

Responsibilities

• Apply advanced statistical, mathematical, and machine learning methodologies to develop algorithms and deliver high-impact data analytics

As a Research Data Scientist in the DDI, you will apply advanced statistical, mathematical, and machine learning methodologies to develop algorithms and deliver high-impact data analytics that drive research insights and innovation. In this role, you will be part of the Data Analytics and Computational Science group and help build out the trauma research program by integrating data from multiple sources to improve accessibility, efficiency, and analysis. You will contribute to AI-focused projects and collaborate closely with multidisciplinary research teams while serving as a team lead, providing training, mentorship, and technical guidance to support the growth and effectiveness of fellow team members.

A caregiver in this role works Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. (flexible)

A caregiver who excels in this role will

• Utilize methods in the areas of Artificial Intelligence (AL), Machine Learning (ML), Deep Learning (DL), Natural Language Processing (NLP) to design and implement data solutions.
• Build complex predictive models, mix models, attribution models and other mathematical or statistical models as needed by using modeling tools.
• Develop methods, novel algorithms and/or high-level data analysis that integrates implementation, visualization and database management of multi-dimensional clinical or biological datasets.
• Serve as a team lead to the Principal Investigator, providing training, mentoring and instruction to other lab members in tools and data analysis.
• Communicate and present research findings to Principal Investigator, greater research community and forums.
• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include

• M.S. or PhD in computer science/statistics/software engineering/bioinformatics or related field and three years of related experience, working with statistical modeling, machine learning or complex data analysis
• OR Bachelor's degree and six years of related experience
• OR Master's degree in related field and one year of related experience, working with statistical modeling, machine learning or complex data analysis
• OR PhD in related field
• Highly proficient with programing skills in languages such as SAS, SQL, SPSS, R, Python, MATLAB or similar
• Excellent communication and presentation skills

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include

• PhD or other advanced doctoral-level education
• Experience working with healthcare data
• Experience working with imaging, visual, or other complex data types
• Collaborative, energetic approach, and enthusiasm for working as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Excitement about helping build and grow a new research program by integrating diverse data sources to advance research, academic initiatives, and scientific publication
