Responsibilities
- Oversee comprehensive data management and governance initiatives to support clinical trials and observational studies in adherence to NIH data policies and standards where appropriate.
- Provide consultation to/lead efforts within team of data professionals to optimize data acquisition and integration of diverse data.
- Oversee management of multiple databases supporting multiple research studies.
- Develop, test, implement, and troubleshoot electronic study screening tools, databases, and capture of supporting documentation across various platforms (e.g., REDCap, Qualtrics).
- Build, design, and manage databases using MySQL or MS Access.
- Use R, Python, SAS, and/or Access to integrate data from multiple sources.
- Deliver analyzable datasets in SPSS, SAS, R, Excel; clean, integrate, and troubleshoot existing databases.
- Assist with designing studies including planning and implementation of data collection using best practices.
- Collaborate with external labs, partners, vendors, and data coordination centers for data receipt and integration.
- Conduct basic descriptive analyses for study reports, recruitment checks, and audits.
- Develop automated procedures for data cleaning, tabulation, and creation of summary variables.
- Use report and visualization tools (e.g., PowerBI, Tableau) to prepare dashboards and reports.
- Coordinate and perform data validation and quality control procedures.
- Prepare data management plans, SOPs, codebooks, and case report forms.
- Revise data entry screens, checks, and reporting requirements; resolve data discrepancies.
- Maintain data management documentation and perform database close procedures.
- Develop application requirements and create test scripts for user acceptance.
- Establish data quality standards and conduct routine system maintenance.
- Maintain a database archive system harmonized to NIH data standards.
- Evaluate and maintain data system integrity and integration.
- Advise and mentor staff in data collection and design best practices.
- Up to 3 days work from home permitted.
Required Qualifications
- Masters degree in Public Administration, Public Health, or a closely related data-focused field.
- At least 2 years of data research experience, including:
- Performing data manipulation and analysis of large datasets using R & SPSS.
- Designing and programming databases using SQL, PowerBI, Python, and HTML/CSS.
- Programming relational databases and complex data structures.
- Integrating data from multiple sources using Access.
- Creating data dashboards, visualizations, and reports with PowerBI & Tableau.
- Creating data management plans.

Positions eligible for hybrid or remote work are at the discretion of the department. Work agreements are reviewed annually and may change.
