Job description

Position: Research Coordinator

Department: Research - Pediatrics

Schedule: 40 hours per week

POSITION SUMMARY:

Organizes, manages, conducts and directs health services research projects, with primary responsibility for handling all the day to day administrative and management issues related to ongoing research studies. Functions include the supervision of research staff, managing research databases for regular reporting on enrollment, serving as study liaison with the IRB, and providing financial management for the project, including purchasing needed supplies and equipment. Assists with new grant proposal development, and preparation of research reports and presentations.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assists the PI and Co-PI in recruitment, hiring and training of Research Assistants, and supervision of employees to assure adherence to all study protocols, procedures and human subject regulations.
  • Responsible for personnel administration functions including, hiring, orientation, training, preparing evaluations; tracking hours worked, vacations, leaves of absences, collecting time sheets, submitting hours to payroll, and scheduling of shifts and meetings.
  • Recruits subjects to participate in the study by using approved methodologies, such as, reaching to healthcare providers for referrals, speaking at community events, visiting clinics, sending mailouts, using approved advertisements, etc.
  • Conducts the enrollment of study participants, including explaining research projects, research procedures, and obtaining informed consent of subjects and their families.
  • Review the data collection forms for each enrollee for completion and quality; supervises staff performing data entry to ensure timely and accurate entry.
  • Closely monitor the participant database and generate reports of when participants are due for appointments and reminders.
  • Responsible for obtaining and distribution of compensation or vouchers for participant reimbursements/participation.
  • Provides ongoing supervision of data collection, supervision of specimen collection, notification of results to patients, and follow-up/referrals to practitioners for subjects that require other assistance.
  • Responsible for purchase orders, invoices and tracking budget items.
  • Liaisons with Institutional Review Board (IRB) to facilitate approval of projects, ongoing documentation and reporting. Develops proposals for future NIH funding.
  • Perform administrative duties associated with the study’s Data Monitoring and Safety Board, tracking and reporting adverse events and collecting data specified by the DMSB. Responsible for all other administrative duties related to research activities.
  • Assist Investigators with manuscript and presentation preparation and research.
  • Establishes or assists in the establishment of an advisory board; plans meetings and provides the board with all requested information.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION:
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • A Master's Degree in Public Health preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum 5 years' clinical research, public health experience or other relevant experience.
  • May consider 3 years of experience for candidates with a Master's degree.
  • Previous experience with grant writing, IRB submissions, data management, and database development, preferred
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
  • Excellent English communication skills (oral and written).
  • Bilingual or multi-lingual skills (beyond that of English) appropriate to the patient population served is a plus.
  • Cultural sensitivity and comfort with a wide range of social, racial and ethnic populations.
  • Knowledge of MS Office applications, database systems, and Internet.
  • Experience using quantitative data analysis software helpful (e.g., SPSS, SAS, Minitab).
  • Must be able to maintain strict confidentiality of all personal/health sensitive information.

Compensation Range:

$53,000.00- $77,000.00

This range offers an estimate based on the minimum job qualifications. However, our approach to determining base pay is comprehensive, and a broad range of factors is considered when making an offer.
