Research Contract Specialist (Finance)

Nemours is seeking a Research Contract Specialist to join our Nemours Children's Health team. This is a remote position that can be based in Jacksonville, FL, Orlando, FL, or Wilmington, DE.

Under the direction of the Research Agreements Manager, the Research Contract Specialist is responsible for the management and review of research-related contracts and agreements. The position involves facilitating the legal review process and executing research contracts to ensure compliance with Nemours guidelines. The individual will serve as a subject matter expert utilizing the Huron Research Suite Agreements module and will help ensure efficient processes and procedures to support research staff and investigators. The role requires close collaboration with Research Administration teams, Principal Investigators, Physicians, and other stakeholders to perform due diligence in the evaluation and execution of research agreements. Additionally, providing excellent customer service to all stakeholders is essential.

Essential Functions

1. Review and draft favorable agreement terms with domestic and foreign sponsors, including Subawards, Data Use Agreements, Material Transfer Agreements, Independent Contractor Agreements, Confidentiality Agreements, Collaboration Agreements, and Clinical Trial Agreements.
2. Coordinate with various departments to gather necessary information for contract preparation and draft replacement language as needed.
3. Collaborate with Legal Counsel to address complex contractual matters.
4. Ensure contract drafts and negotiations comply with Nemours' Contract Development and Approval policies.
5. Serve as a subject matter expert in utilizing the Huron Research Suite Agreements module, maintain accurate contract records, and facilitate the signing and distribution of executed contracts.
6. Maintain knowledge of operational requirements for the development, review, negotiation, and execution of sponsored contracts and related agreements, including systems and personnel considerations.
7. Participate in research system and process improvement projects, including contract approval and management processes for Research Associates.
8. Collaborate with Research Leadership, Research Administration, Sponsored Programs Administration, Research Finance, Office of Human Subjects Protection, Compliance, Legal, Privacy, and Office of Technology Transfer.
9. Contribute to a customer-focused office environment, seeking continuous process improvement and cross-training to expand knowledge of research administration.
10. Understand and stay informed about research compliance and regulations to advise and guide faculty and staff.

Requirements

Preferred Bachelor's Degree or 5 years of relevant work experience.

Three to five years of experience in research contract management and research legal matters.
