Job description

Research Contract Specialist (Finance)

Nemours is seeking a Research Contract Specialist to join our Nemours Children's Health team. This is a remote position that can be based in Jacksonville, FL, Orlando, FL, or Wilmington, DE.

Under the direction of the Research Agreements Manager, the Research Contract Specialist is responsible for managing and reviewing research-related contracts and agreements. The role involves facilitating legal reviews and executing contracts to ensure compliance with Nemours guidelines. The individual will serve as a subject matter expert utilizing the Huron Research Suite Agreements module, supporting efficient processes for research staff and investigators. The position involves close collaboration with Research Administration teams, Principal Investigators, Physicians, and other stakeholders to ensure proper due diligence in evaluating and executing research agreements. Providing excellent customer service to all stakeholders is also a key responsibility.

Essential Functions

1. Review and draft agreement terms with domestic and foreign sponsors, including Subawards, Data Use Agreements, Material Transfer Agreements, Independent Contractor Agreements, Confidentiality Agreements, Collaboration Agreements, and Clinical Trial Agreements.
2. Coordinate with departments to gather information for contracts and draft necessary language.
3. Collaborate with Legal Counsel on complex contractual issues.
4. Ensure contract drafts and negotiations align with Nemours' policies.
5. Utilize the Huron Research Suite Agreements module to maintain accurate records and facilitate signing and distribution of contracts.
6. Understand operational requirements for the development, review, negotiation, and execution of sponsored contracts.
7. Participate in process improvement projects related to research contracts and management.
8. Work with Research Leadership, Research Administration, Sponsored Programs, Research Finance, Compliance, Legal, Privacy, and Technology Transfer offices.
9. Promote a customer-focused work environment and seek continuous process improvements, including cross-training.
10. Gain knowledge of research compliance and regulations to advise faculty and staff.

Requirements

• Preferred Bachelor's Degree or 5 years of relevant experience.
• Three to five years of experience in research contract management and legal aspects of research.
