Job Description

We are seeking RESEARCH SCIENTISTS with a PhD in Chemistry, Polymers, or similar technical degree for specialty chemical manufacturers in the SOUTHEAST. (This position is in the Greenville/Spartanburg, SC area. We are based in Columbia, SC with positions nationwide).

Hands-on position. The RESEARCH SCIENTISTS will work as a Bench Chemist involving reaction chemistries, polymers, specialty chemicals, and the Stage Gate Process.

1. Develop new product concepts including proprietary blends using both products and co-producer products.
2. Compile applications performance requirements specific to the various product lines.
3. Utilize chemicals, chemical compounds, and chemical processes to create new products and technologies.
4. Work in a laboratory setting conducting tests involving mixing different chemicals or polymers together to discover the results and chemical properties.
5. Utilize computerized databases that contain searchable lists of chemicals and chemical reactions; using those research results to brainstorm ideas for new products.
6. Research potential raw material alternatives and possible substitute materials.
7. Plan and perform laboratory work to develop a database of properties and uses of all functional products of the corporation.
8. Provide technical assistance to customers in cases involving product use.
9. Support plant operations in process improvements and problem troubleshooting.
10. Participate in PSM certifications.

Minimum Requirements:

PhD in Chemistry. Bench Chemist positions require 3+ years industrial experience.

Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident already living in the US.
