Job summary

Pyramid Consulting, Inc. is seeking a Research Associate – Molecular Biology | In Vivo Discovery for an onsite Philadelphia, PA role. This 6+ month contract offers hands‑on lab work, data analysis, and collaboration in a focused research environment.

You will perform routine to moderately complex experiments, maintain ELN records, and contribute to plasmid cloning, analytics, and reporting. Bachelor's degree and 0–2 years of relevant experience are required.

• Bachelor's degree in Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or related life science field.
• 0–2 years of hands‑on laboratory research experience (academic, internships, co‑ops, biotech or pharma).
• Ability to follow established protocols, learn new techniques, and work onsite in Philadelphia, PA 5 days/week.

Responsibilities

• Perform hands‑on laboratory experiments ranging from routine to moderately complex under supervision.
• Follow protocols to generate accurate, reliable results.
• Support molecular biology research activities and learn new techniques as projects evolve.
• Maintain accurate experimental records in Benchling/ELNs and other systems.
• Communicate progress and results clearly with team members.
• Troubleshoot basic issues and escalate complex problems as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform hands-on laboratory experiments ranging from routine to moderately complex under the direction of experienced scientists.
• Follow established protocols and procedures to generate accurate, consistent, and reliable experimental results.
• Support molecular biology research activities and learn new laboratory techniques as projects evolve.
• Perform routine laboratory procedures following appropriate training, safety requirements, and good laboratory practices.
• Support bacterial culture and transformation activities.
• Support plasmid cloning, amplification, preparation, and analysis.
• Collect, organize, and analyze experimental data to identify trends and outcomes.
• Use Excel, GraphPad Prism, and other software to summarize, analyze, visualize, and communicate experimental results.
• Maintain accurate and thorough experimental records in Benchling/electronic laboratory notebooks (ELNs) and other laboratory documentation systems.
• Clearly document experimental procedures, observations, results, and deviations.
• Assist scientists with technical summaries, presentations, reports, and other project documentation.
• Communicate experimental progress and results effectively with scientists, supervisors, and project team members.
• Troubleshoot basic experimental or technical issues and elevate more complex problems when appropriate.
• Maintain a clean, organized, safe, and compliant laboratory environment.
• Follow all applicable laboratory safety procedures, quality standards, and good laboratory practices.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues and contribute to a positive, team-oriented research environment.
• Continue developing laboratory and scientific skills through hands‑on training, feedback, and exposure to new techniques and instrumentation.
• Manage multiple laboratory activities while maintaining strong attention to detail and meeting project timelines.
• Perform occasional weekend work when required by research activities.

Key Requirements and Technology Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a related life science field.
• 0–2 years of hands‑on laboratory research experience, including academic research, internships, co‑ops, biotechnology, pharmaceutical, or related laboratory experience.
• Strong foundation in biological sciences and basic laboratory techniques.
• Ability to accurately follow experimental protocols and established procedures.
• Basic understanding of molecular biology and laboratory research methods.
• Familiarity with experimental data analysis and data visualization.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
• Experience with or willingness to learn GraphPad Prism.
• Strong laboratory documentation and record‑keeping skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to generating high‑quality, reliable data.
• Strong organizational and time‑management skills.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, team‑oriented research environment.
• Willingness and ability to learn new laboratory techniques and instrumentation.
• Commitment to laboratory safety and good laboratory practices.
• Ability to work fully onsite in Philadelphia, PA, 5 days per week.
