If you're passionate about joining a community that challenges the curious to deliver work that matters, your journey starts here!

The Mellon College of Science (MCS) houses four academic departments and numerous programs and research centers that span various fields. Our innovative interdisciplinary approach allows us to address scientific challenges from unique perspectives while building upon the strong foundation in core sciences provided by our departments. Our faculty members at MCS are esteemed both nationally and internationally for their groundbreaking research in diverse areas such as polymer science, cosmology, mathematical finance, and neuroscience.

The Yttri lab in the Department of Biological Sciences is seeking a Research Associate to join the team! In this role, you will assist in the development and execution of research projects including experiment design, analysis of data collected, summarizing experiment results, and such other tasks that are assigned to you.

Core Responsibilities:

  • The Research Associate will help manage day-to-day laboratory operations while ensuring compliance with safety regulations and best practices. After receiving training in a handful of techniques, the individual will also play a key role in training new members of the lab.
  • Independent scientific research in the lab can be a large component of the position, but is secondary to organizing and management of inventory, colony, and personnel. Research associate should also be comfortable performing basic perfusion and histology procedures.
  • Candidate will be expected to closely follow established protocols and also troubleshoot as necessary, as an individual and as part of a team.
  • Some experience in basic programming and statistical analysis is a benefit, but is not required.

Adaptability, excellence, and passion are vital qualities within Carnegie Mellon University. We are in search of a team member who can effectively interact with a varied population of internal and external partners at a high level of integrity. We are looking for someone who shares our values and who will support the mission of the university through their work.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • 1-3 years of research experience if preferred.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, reasoning, and analytical skills.
  • A combination of education and relevant experience in neuroscience may be considered.

Requirements:
