Job summary

The University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus is seeking a Research Associate/Senior Research Associate in the Pietras Laboratory. This role involves independent work with animal and human samples to study blood cancer and inflammation biology, with extensive use of flow cytometry, molecular biology, and experimental therapeutics.

Responsibilities include developing experiments, publishing data, mentoring staff, and preparing grant proposals.

Qualifications

• PhD or equivalent in immunology, stem cell biology, experimental hematology, molecular biology, or related field.
• At least one first-author publication in a peer‑reviewed journal.
• Research Associate: one year experience; Senior Research Associate: two years experience.

Responsibilities

• Development, design and performance of research experiments.
• Mechanism-based discovery of cancer and inflammation therapeutics.
• Characterization of metabolic processes of normal and leukemic cells.
• Use of animal model systems to study leukemia pathogenesis.
• Prepare data and manuscripts for publication.
• Prepare grant proposals to obtain independent funding.
• Present data at group meetings, journal clubs and conferences.
• Mentor students and technical staff.
