Job summary

UC San Diego SSPPS is seeking a Research Support Assistant 2 to assist with sample extraction, data collection, instrument operation, and data analysis in LC-MS/MS workflows. The role supports ongoing research projects and requires careful data management of experimental metadata and compliance with safety protocols.

The position also involves administrative tasks such as ordering laboratory supplies, processing receipts, and contributing to reports and manuscript sections.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Microbiology or related field.
Hands-on wet-lab sample extraction/preparation techniques.
Experience with LC-MS/MS instrumentation.
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written protocols.
Basic computer literacy for data analysis and recordkeeping.

Responsibilities

Assist with sample extraction, data collection, instrument operation, and data analysis.
Prepare and organize experimental metadata and manage LC-MS/MS runs.
Perform administrative and safety duties, including ordering supplies and tracking receipts.
Assist in preparing reports, figures, and manuscript sections.
