Job summary

Creative Solutions Services, LLC is seeking a Research Associate II - Assay Development to join our Tucson laboratory. The role focuses on hands-on assay development, wet-lab experimentation, data analysis, and rigorous documentation to support diagnostic product development.

You will design and execute experiments, interpret results, troubleshoot issues, and prepare technical reports while ensuring compliance with GMP/GLP and Design Control standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences or related field.
  • 2-4 years of relevant post-college laboratory experience.
  • Hands-on wet-lab techniques with standard equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research, development, and manufacturing lab experiments for diagnostic product and assay development.
  • Design, execute, and optimize experimental protocols with accurate documentation.
  • Analyze and interpret data; apply scientific judgment to guide decisions.
  • Prepare technical reports, protocols, study summaries, and presentations.
  • Maintain compliant lab records per GMP/GLP and Design Control requirements.
  • Troubleshoot issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with scientists, engineers, manufacturing, and quality teams.
  • Identify opportunities to improve lab efficiency, quality, and reproducibility.
  • Support development and implementation of lab methods and best practices.
  • Train colleagues on procedures and quality requirements.
  • Promote a Quality First Time mindset in all work.
  • Review literature and incorporate relevant info into planning.

About the Role

We are seeking a Research Associate II - Assay Development to support research, development, and manufacturing laboratory activities for innovative diagnostic technologies. This is a hands-on laboratory position ideal for a scientist with experience in wet-lab experimentation, assay development, data analysis, and technical documentation.

The Research Associate II will design and execute experiments, analyze and interpret results, troubleshoot technical challenges, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to support project goals and deliver high-quality results.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research, development, and manufacturing laboratory experiments to support diagnostic product and assay development projects.
  • Design, execute, and optimize experimental protocols with minimal supervision while accurately documenting observations and results.
  • Analyze and interpret experimental data and apply scientific judgment to support project strategies and decision-making.
  • Prepare technical reports, protocols, study summaries, quantitative analyses, and presentations for project teams and stakeholders.
  • Maintain complete, accurate, and compliant laboratory records in accordance with company policies and applicable GMP, GLP, and Design Control requirements.
  • Troubleshoot experimental and technical issues, identify root causes, and implement appropriate corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with scientists, engineers, manufacturing, quality, and other cross-functional partners to support project planning and execution.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and contribute ideas that improve laboratory efficiency, quality, and reproducibility.
  • Support the development and implementation of laboratory methods, procedures, and best practices.
  • Train and support colleagues on laboratory procedures, techniques, and quality requirements while promoting a Quality First Time mindset.
  • Exercise sound scientific judgment when selecting appropriate methods and techniques to address complex laboratory problems.
  • Conduct scientific literature searches and incorporate relevant technical information into experimental planning and problem-solving activities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences or a related scientific discipline.
  • 2-4 years of relevant post-college laboratory experience.
  • Hands-on experience with a variety of wet-laboratory techniques.
  • Proficiency with common laboratory equipment and techniques such as pipetting, reagent preparation, balances, stir plates, and sample handling.
  • Ability to design and execute experiments with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Experience analyzing experimental data and communicating scientific findings.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or comparable software.
  • Experience working in a regulated laboratory environment.
  • Familiarity with GMP, GLP, Design Control, or other quality systems.
  • Experience with assay development, assay optimization, or diagnostic testing.
  • Experience with SAFe, Agile planning, or project reporting frameworks.
  • Experience preparing technical documentation and presenting experimental results.
