Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Generate, store, and distribute DNA plasmids to support CLD pipeline and tech development.
  • Retrieve stored DNA plasmids and manage DNA upscaling in-house and at CROs.
  • Perform quality control on new DNA batches and deliver finished materials to requestors.
  • Process new DNA batches and enter metadata into repository and freezer tracking system.
  • Collaborate across teams; troubleshoot and solve problems with initiative and judgment.

Position Title: Research Associate II
Work Location: Framingham, MA 01701
Assignment Duration: 12 Months

Work Schedule 9-5 EST

HM Notes:

Bachelor of Science (BS) or Master of Science (MS) in Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field with minimum of 1 year of experience in a research laboratory or biopharma/biotech company.

Hands-on experience with recombinant DNA techniques and plasmid production workflows.

Proficiency in advanced cloning technologies including GoldenGate, InFusion, and Gibson Assembly Experience working collaboratively within cross-functional scientific teams

Job Summary:

The person in this role will work as part of the Cell Line Development (CLD) Group, joining a team responsible for generating, storing, and distributing DNA plasmids to support pipeline and technology development within CLD. As a member of the core molecular biology team, the successful candidate will provide recombinant DNA plasmids essential to cell line generation, combining strong molecular biology skills with the ability to understand and execute complex cloning strategies.

Beyond producing plasmids requested de novo, this individual will also support plasmid and data management activities across the group. Day-to-day responsibilities include retrieving stored DNA plasmids, managing DNA upscaling both in-house and at contract research organizations (CROs), performing quality control on newly generated DNA batches, and delivering finished materials to requestors. The role also involves processing new DNA batches and entering associated metadata into the repository and freezer tracking system.

The ideal candidate brings strong molecular biology expertise along with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems using sound initiative and judgment. Success in this role requires the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of attention to detail, strong organizational and data presentation skills, and the ability to work collaboratively - communicating effectively both within the immediate team and across broader groups.

Knowledge and Skills:
Required
  • Molecular biology skills including GoldenGate, InFusion and Gibson Assembly cloning technologies, knowledge in plasmid construct design (including antibodies), agarose gel electrophoresis, DNA purification, DNA sequencing and sequence analysis
  • Knowledge of molecular biology software such as Snapgene or Geneious
  • Possess excellent oral and written skills
Preferred
  • Experience with automation, LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System) and biological registration systems (example: Genedata Biologics)
Experience Required:

BS or MS in biology or related field and 1+ years of experience in a research laboratory or a biopharma/biotech company.
