University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) seeks a Research Associate to join a dynamic team supporting research projects and clinical trials. The role emphasizes administrative, financial, and laboratory management within a collaborative environment on the Little Rock campus.

Responsibilities include preparing experiments, data analysis, protocol development, grant proposal support, and supervising junior staff. Strong communication and adherence to safety standards are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in biology, chemistry, immunology, or a related scientific field PLUS four (4) years of research experience in a histology laboratory or medical/laboratory facility, including data collection and analysis.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and/or administers research experiments, process human and animal specimens, perform embedding, sectioning of FFPE and frozen samples. Analyzes and interprets data, evaluates research results and recommends refinements in scientific protocols used in research.
• Develops, implements, and manages protocols and data collection, analysis, and reports and assists in preparation of written reports related to projects and data analysis.
• Participates in the development of scientific portions for research grant proposals and maintains detailed notes on laboratory research protocols
• Oversees the operations of the laboratory, including auditing, ordering supplies, monitoring performance of experimentation, providing budgetary oversight, client support, iLab, maintaining records and files, and ensuring safety and security of hazardous materials
• Provides training and oversees junior laboratory personnel
• Performs other duties as assigned
