Job summary

Arkansas Children’s Hospital seeks a Research Associate to work independently in a dynamic lab setting. Primary responsibilities include developing, designing, and executing experiments in cell culture, biochemistry, and molecular biology, with processing of human samples under approved protocols.

Required: high school diploma or GED; preferred: Bachelor’s degree in biology or related field and 1+ year of relevant research experience. Flexible hours for time-sensitive work may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Biology or related field preferred.
• Minimum of one year of relevant research experience.
• Basic familiarity with cell culture techniques required; prior hands-on cell culture experience is required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain inventory of raw materials, buffers, and reagents with accurate records.
• Order equipment and supplies for the laboratory within grant budgets.
• Demonstrate knowledge of principles and procedures for complex research tasks.
• Manage small projects, assess feasibility and optimize time/resources.
• Review project progress and evaluate results.
• Identify troubleshooting strategies for experimental processes.
• Stay current with lab techniques and equipment; propose new approaches.
• Advise senior PI on updated methods as needed.
• Develop new techniques to address complex questions.
• Use graphics and statistics software to analyze data for presentations and manuscripts.
