Job summary

The Allen Institute seeks a Research Associate I to join Lab Animal Services, performing high-throughput lab work and animal care within SOP-guided protocols. The role emphasizes precision, regulatory compliance, and teamwork in a fast-paced environment.

Required is a life-science degree with strong manual dexterity and communication, plus familiarity with mouse biology and common software tools. Onsite work in Seattle, Friday–to–Sunday shifts may apply with rotating on-call duties.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a life science or related field.
• 2+ years of related work experience and/or training (preferred).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Exceptional manual dexterity and attention to detail.
• Knowledge of mouse genetics, anatomy, and behavior.
• Intermediate level ability with MS Office and SharePoint.
• Ability to learn LIMS, LabTracks, Power Apps and Power Automate.

Responsibilities

• Administer compounds to mice via iv, ip, sc, po, im, ro, icv.
• Perform euthanasia and tissue collections.
• Unwell animal triage and post-operative care for mice.
• Adhere to SOPs, IACUC protocols, and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain accurate lab documentation and reporting.
• Coordinate tasks with supervisor and manage daily scheduling.
• Communicate task status clearly with stakeholders.
• Conduct daily vivarium maintenance and shift-specific procedures.
