UCSD Health Sciences is recruiting for a Research Associate to support the Department of Cellular and Molecular Medicine. You will perform standard lab procedures, assist ongoing projects, and help maintain lab operations under supervision.

The role involves handling biohazardous waste, equipment maintenance, and data analysis in a dynamic, collaborative setting. Qualified candidates will have molecular biology experience, cell culture and sterile techniques, and strong attention to detail.

Qualifications

• Theoretical knowledge of molecular and cellular biology or closely related field.
• Working knowledge of DNA techniques.
• Lab experience with sterile techniques and mammalian cell culture; familiarity with laboratory equipment.
• Attention to detail and ability to learn new lab procedures quickly.
• Statistics and data analysis skills.
• Experience with cell culture and sterile techniques for mammalian cells.
• Experience performing repetitive lab procedures and following protocols.
• Strong organization and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Additional familiarity with microscopy is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform standard repetitive laboratory procedures including biochemistry and molecular biology assays, cell biology, immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence, and immunoblotting.
• Contribute ideas to improve tests and support multiple ongoing research projects.
• Handle general lab duties: lab ordering, organizing supplies, waste disposal, and equipment maintenance/calibration.
• Adhere to EH&S guidelines and work as part of a large, diverse team.
