Job summary

Aviva Systems Biology seeks a Research Associate I – Antibody Development to join our fast-paced biology team in San Diego. You will perform routine biochemistry, protein purification, and antibody-related workflows, contributing to recombinant protein development and assay support.

Responsibilities include chromatography, SDS-PAGE, Western blot, cell culture, data recording, and collaboration with R&D and manufacturing to advance new products.

Qualifications

  • B.S. or M.S. in life science or related subject.
  • 1+ year laboratory experience in academia or industry R&D or GMP environment preferred.
  • Experience with immunology, biochemistry, and molecular biology basics.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and data analysis software.

  • Carry out small-scale bacterial, fungal, and mammalian cell culture using aseptic techniques.

Job Title: Research Associate I – Antibody Development

Pay Range :$25 – $30 per hour

Aviva Systems Biology is a fast-paced, mid-stage life sciences research tools company located in San Diego, CA. We commercialize life science tools and reagents for research, drug discovery, and diagnostics.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Perform routine biochemistry techniques including column chromatography, SDS-PAGE, Western Blot, immunoprecipitation, surface plasmon resonance (SPR)
  • Perform small-scale bacterial, fungal, and mammalian cell culture using aseptic techniques
  • Use electrophoresis and chromatography systems for biomolecule analysis or purification
  • Prepare chemical solutions required for production processes
  • Perform various quality control methods involved in production of manufactured enzyme products
Education Requirements:
  • B.S. or M.S. in life science or related subject.
Experience Desired:
  • 1+ year related laboratory experience in academia or industry R&D or GMP environment is preferred.
  • Experience using Akta FPLC preferred.
  • Basic understanding of topics related to immunology, biochemistry, and molecular biology.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and/or other data analysis software.
Skills and Abilities
  • Proficiency in English language, both verbal and written.
  • H ighly-organized with proven time management and prioritization skills.
  • Strong data recording and note taking skills.
  • Operation of standard laboratory equipment such as incubators/shakers, centrifuges, etc.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with various teams to achieve team goals.
  • Goal-oriented individual with demonstrated record of achievement.
WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Some heavy lifting, kneeling, squatting, etc. may be required.

How will you make an impact?

The Research Associate will assist in the development of recombinant proteins and technologies, as well as antibody-based workflow solutions including Western Blot, ELISA, IP, and SPR applications. You will work with R&D and manufacturing team members to develop new products in support of the company’s growth strategy. This is a highly collaborative role where you will directly impact the company’s revenue growth.

The Research Associate works as part of a multidisciplinary team performing standard molecular biology techniques, protein purification and analysis, and cell culture maintenance. Clear communication skills, careful execution with attention to details, and excellent record keeping are a must. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment as a part of a highly focused team of motivated scientists.
