Job Description : GENERAL OVERVIEW: Performs a variety of routine and/or complex laboratory procedures on clinical research specimens; displays a mastery of laboratory techniques, principles, and instrumentation; correlates data required to provide quality information used by physician in the research and development of clinical processes.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Performs laboratory testing on specimens according to departmental protocol while complying with hospital and department policies regarding safety and infection control.
  • Displays mastery of laboratory techniques, principles, and instrumentation.
  • (40%) Independently performs all tasks related to the execution of research as defined by the physician/investigator.
  • (20%) Operates, calibrates, checks, and maintains instrumentation.
  • (20%) Participates with the review and monitoring of quality control and quality assurance records.
  • (5%) Demonstrates proper care and handling of laboratory animals.
  • (5%) Participates in continuing education to ensure growth and development of the laboratory.
  • (5%) Monitors and evaluates laboratory inventory.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Biology, or related science
  • Experience with computer software programs Preferred 0-1 years’ experience in a research laboratory environment
