Job summary

Texas A&M AgriLife Research in Lubbock, TX seeks a Research Associate to perform independent or supervisory research, prepare funding proposals, operate field, greenhouse, and lab equipment, and supervise graduate students and staff. The role includes transporting equipment and overseeing field plots, with duties spanning planting, weed control, irrigation, soil sampling, and sample processing.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
Two years of related professional experience.
Valid Class A license or to be obtained within 6 months of employment.
Experience with operating farm equipment, including tractors and harvest equipment.
Familiarity with laboratory/technical equipment.
Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.

Responsibilities

Performs independent or supervisory roles in research activities requiring advanced knowledge.
Prepares proposals for funding agencies and operates research equipment.
Hauls farm equipment to field sites using a large flatbed trailer and operates agency vehicle.
Operates tractor for planting, plots layout, weed control, irrigation, soil sampling, and harvests plots.
Assists in greenhouse experiments and lab assays for nematodes; handles seed packaging.
