Job summary

UNSW invites applications for a Research Associate reporting to Professor Chongmin Song. The role supports a project to develop an innovative scaled boundary framework for dynamic nonlinear analysis of large-scale structures, integrating geometric modelling with computational mechanics.

This is a full-time, fixed-term position of 12 months, located at Kensington – Sydney, Australia, with a salary of AUD 95,036 to 126,711 per annum plus 17% superannuation. Applications close 9 November 2026.

Qualifications

• PhD in a related discipline, and/or relevant work experience.
• Proven ability to undertake high-quality academic research with limited supervision.
• Track record of publications and conference presentations relative to opportunity.
• Previous experience on developing numerical methods as evidenced by journal publications.
• Strong programming ability demonstrated by PhD research and refereed journal publications.
• Committed to proactively keeping up to date with discipline knowledge and developments.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a team, collaborate across disciplines and build effective relationships.
• Evidence of highly developed interpersonal skills.
