Job summary

Evotec in the United States is seeking a Research Associate to drive early drug discovery projects and perform critical protein expression and purification work. You will design and optimize workflows across hosts, maintain safety standards, and deliver high-quality data for internal and external stakeholders.

The role emphasizes independence, collaboration with senior scientists, and the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects while contributing to exciting therapeutic area initiatives.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or Bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific discipline with at least 3 years plus experience in industry.
• Technical knowledge of Protein Biochemistry, Structural Biology or Biophysics with a proven ability to deliver results across target families within agreed timelines and budget, meeting agreed quality criteria.
• Understanding of scientific and technical background of experiments.
• Experience of precise execution of workplans.
• Expected to have some independence, making day-to-day technical decisions, follow training provided on the correct use and maintenance of lab equipment.

Responsibilities

• Execute approved work plans in early drug discovery projects.
• Contribute to the optimization and continuous improvement of work plans by providing recommendations for review and approval Senior Scientists (Grade 5 or above)
• Support multiple concurrent projects across modalities and therapeutic areas, ensuring efficiency and prioritization of deliverables
• Deliver timely, accurate results that meet defined quality standards and project specifications.
• Perform preliminary data analysis for internal review prior to release to internal stakeholders or external customers.
• Design, execute, and optimize protein expression workflows in one or more host systems, including E. coli, insect cell platforms (baculovirus and Drosophila S2), and mammalian expression systems, to produce high-quality recombinant proteins that meet project objectives and timelines.
• Design, execute, and optimize protein purification workflows using chromatographic techniques and analytical methods. Operate and maintain ÄKTA chromatography systems, troubleshoot purification processes, and collaborate with upstream and cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality protein preparations for internal and external customers.
• Adhere strictly to all laboratory safety policies, including compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), risk assessments, and good laboratory practices to maintain a safe and compliant working environment.

The base pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be $63,000 - $74,000. This is a salaried exempt role. Base salary offered may vary depending on the individual’s skills, experience and competitive market value. Additional total rewards include discretionary annual bonus, comprehensive benefits to include Medical, Dental and Vision, short-term and long-term disability, company paid basic life insurance, 401k company match, generous paid time off and paid holiday, wellness and transportation benefits.
