Job summary

Evotec US Inc. in Princeton, NJ is seeking a Research Associate to help drive early drug discovery.

You will execute approved work plans, support multiple projects, and deliver timely, high-quality data while collaborating with cross-functional teams. Requirements include a Master's or Bachelor's in a relevant field with 3+ years in industry, knowledge of protein biochemistry/biophysics, and the ability to work independently while following SOPs and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Master's or Bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific discipline with 3+ years of industry experience.
• Technical knowledge of Protein Biochemistry, Structural Biology or Biophysics with ability to deliver results within timelines and budget.
• Understanding of scientific and technical background of experiments.
• Experience executing workplans with precision.
• Ability to work independently and follow training on equipment use and maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Execute approved work plans in early drug discovery projects.
• Contribute to optimization and continuous improvement of work plans with recommendations for review and approval by Senior Scientists.
• Support multiple concurrent projects across modalities and therapeutic areas, prioritizing deliverables.
• Deliver timely, accurate results that meet defined quality standards and project specifications.
• Perform preliminary data analysis for internal review before release to internal or external stakeholders.
• Design, execute, and optimize protein expression workflows in hosts including E. coli, insect cells, and mammalian systems to produce high-quality proteins.
• Design, execute, and optimize protein purification workflows using chromatography; operate ÄKTA systems and collaborate with teams to deliver protein preparations.
• Adhere to all lab safety policies, SOPs, risk assessments, and good laboratory practices.

We're looking for a passionate and curious Research Associate to join our team. What You'll Do:

• Execute approved work plans in early drug discovery projects.


• Contribute to the optimization and continuous improvement of work plans by providing recommendations for review and approval Senior Scientists (Grade 5 or above)


• Support multiple concurrent projects across modalities and therapeutic areas, ensuring efficiency and prioritization of deliverables


• Deliver timely, accurate results that meet defined quality standards and project specifications.


• Perform preliminary data analysis for internal review prior to release to internal stakeholders or external customers.


• Design, execute, and optimize protein expression workflows in one or more host systems, including E. coli, insect cell platforms (baculovirus and Drosophila S2), and mammalian expression systems, to produce high-quality recombinant proteins that meet project objectives and timelines.


• Design, execute, and optimize protein purification workflows using chromatographic techniques and analytical methods. Operate and maintain ÄKTA chromatography systems, troubleshoot purification processes, and collaborate with upstream and cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality protein preparations for internal and external customers.


• Adhere strictly to all laboratory safety policies, including compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), risk assessments, and good laboratory practices to maintain a safe and compliant working environment.

Who You Are:

• Master's degree or Bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific discipline with at least 3 years plus experience in industry.


• Technical knowledge of Protein Biochemistry, Structural Biology or Biophysics with a proven ability to deliver results across target families within agreed timelines and budget, meeting agreed quality criteria.


• Understanding of scientific and technical background of experiments.


• Experience of precise execution of workplans.


• Expected to have some independence, making day-time technical decisions, follow training provided on the correct use and maintenance of lab equipment.

The base pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be $63,000 - $74,000. This is a salaried exempt role. Base salary offered may vary depending on the individual's skills, experience and competitive market value. Additional total rewards include discretionary annual bonus, comprehensive benefits to include Medical, Dental and Vision, short-term and long-term disability, company paid basic life insurance, 401k company match, generous paid time off and paid holiday, wellness and transportation benefits.
